This work is an exploration of two dimensional and three dimensional space perception and shape recognition. The shapes drawn in tape call attention to the space between two dimensional drawing and three dimensional sculpture. Drawings and objects become suggestions of Interior and exterior spaces.

For the K-fest he proposes to create an installation which addresses the architecture and surroundings of the works' location.

I’m fascinated with the human body and the life inside us. The organisms and the cells which we can’t see with the human eye, takes care of our system and is often so unfamiliar to us, yet we wouldn’t exist without it. My work is inspired by the idea of a puzzle, little parts that make the whole. The work is based on microscopic images of the human body, yet speaks metaphorically of my understanding and connection to the physical world. The latest work has a strong feeling of interior and exterior spaces. Stitching is a natural part of the work. It is a metaphor for healing and nursing. Thread has become part of the individual pieces, almost like the flesh or tissue of the fragile ceramic pieces. The work bases on understanding the material and pushing it to its limits.

To whom it may concern, I, Ken Lee have been working as a cartoonist & sculptor for the past 25 years. I began life as a Graphic Designer after qualifying for The Limerick School Of Art & Design but found I wasn't cut out for Yuppidom & suits, so I went back to doodling. I love to be able to laugh at anything that needs laughing at. I've been a political cartoonist for the Irish Independent for the past 15 years now & when not drawing our fine Leaders I play with clay. So It's nice to know I'm drawing cartoons & playing with mud....pretty much like when I was 5 years old.

Away from cartoons and funny sculpture, I am now drawn towards works centred on memory which overlaps the present. Memory dominates our everyday, whether we are aware of it or not. It can surface in one's life in many forms, comfort, hope and regret  are are few. Representing this overlaping of tenses in clay, metal & glaze is my current challenge. In this the idea of a jigsaw or puzzle also appeals to me  Each a puzzle of many pieces to be fitted together or at least attempted to fit together in the way memories are rearranged differently in our minds everytime we remember . The idea of  jigsaw or puzzle appeals to me. A definition of Jigsaw is: to arrange or place in an intricate or interlocking way.  There is no end to the possibilities this presents.
I believe that art, my art is a journey towards some piece of mind. Which may bring some some reflection, calm & healing to others who view it.
