Ben ó Faoláin

Ben Ó Faoláin is resident dj and promoter of Galway’s weekly one-stop shop for worldwide beats, bass & boogie, Club 0a2. Housed in the cosy confines of Club Arus na nGael, the club's join-the-dots musical philosophy and general disregard for the trends of mainstream club-land has earned Club 0a2 an enthusiastic and loyal international crowd. In recent times Ben’s genre-blurring eclecticism has seen him hold such diverse residencies as Saturday’s at Cork house music Mecca The Pavilion, Galway’s Recipe collective’s drum ‘n’ bass parties, and Galway indie drinking pit The Róisin Dubh.

Ben's K-Fest performance sees him take his Rainy But Funky Soundsystem on the road. Expect classic block party and carnival sounds inspired by London's Notting Hill and Bristol's St. Pauls carnivals, as well Ben's years as selector with Mr Whippy Soundsystem. That's good time party hip hop, skanking Jamaican rocksteady 'n' dancehall reggae, latin dancefloor bangers, funk, disco, swingin’ boogaloo and a twist of contemporary Tropical bass styles!

Walking On Cars

WWalking On Cars are creating sounds as beautiful and dramatic as the landscape that envelops them. From the Dingle Peninsula. This friendship soon gave way to a tuneful collaboration, borne out of a desire to write music. With songs reflecting both the isolation and consolation of Dingle, this year Walking On Cars look set to add to their increasing number of admirers. They recorded their  first single with producer Tom McFall (Snow Patrol, Bloc Party, Editors) in Grouse Lodge Studios. ‘_Catch Me If You Can’_  is the first single to be taken from
that recording.

Since their formation just 12 months ago, Walking on Cars have toured across the country with workmanlike dedication to their craft, eveloping their passion for playing live with standout performances at the Indiependence, Sea Session, and Valencia Festivals. They also made some notable special guest appearances to The Coronas, Ham Sandwich and The Riptide Movement.

Some high profile performances (including Other Voices IMRO Other Room) and the recent inclusion of their music on The Voice of Ireland television show, it cannot be long before Walking On Cars are heard far beyond the most westerly tip of this island.

MojoGogo

Energetic, brilliant, impulsive and joyfully exuberant are the hallmarks of Mojo GoGo’s music, legendary live stage shows and, sometimes wild, off stage antics. Mojo GoGo are the onstage antidote to pedal gazing, moody, self indulgent musical snobbery. Hard working, hard partying and unpredictable, the Donegal bands straightforward and forthright approach is winning them fans with every show theyplay.

Their togetherness as a band and as friends is evident, with songs commenting on some of the more unsavoury aspects of life, sometimes in language that the more sensitive may consider as a little too honest but always tinged with the humour and irreverence that only the optimistic can embrace. Honesty is this bands hallmark, particularly on stage where delivering a show to whip the crowd into a frenzy is their standard and in their simple appreciation of the music fans need to be entertained and taken to a place where wild abandon allows them to truly enjoy the music. Mojo GoGo stand apart with a sound and style of their own which they label as STINDIE Rock and Roll (Stadium-Indie). This band is no copycat. It is its own undeniable and joyfully unpredictable force of nature. Mojo GoGo in their short career have secured support slots with top International Acts such as The Enemy, Ash, Horslips and The Minutes. To featuring on the Cover of Hotpress Magazine, Mojo GoGo are the ones to watch in 2013.

David Kitt

David Kitt has been in the music business for over a decade and recently brought his skill to a new level with his sixth album ‘The Nightsaver’, described by the Sunday Tribune as his “best album yet”.
He has toured across Ireland and Europe and and was invited by David Bowie to perform at the Bowie curated Meltdown Festival at Royal Festival Hall in 2002.
The Nightsaver is a result of two years of Kitt immersing himself into creating music, experimenting into the early hours and oftentimes dedicating 80 hours a week to the process. It was in an apartment along Dublin’s Grand Canal that he did his writing, recording, and production.

From the dreamy chimes of opener “Move it on”, through the clipped disco swagger of “It’s yours” and the breathtaking mantra-style vocals and splitting electronic distortion of “Learning to say Goodbye” right through to the creaky folk-blues hip-hop of “No truth in your eyes”, “The Nightsaver” is very much David Kitt’s clean slate record. Come enjoy it for yourself in the ambient setting of Sol y Sombra.
