Galleries - All Weekend

10.00am-6.00pm, All Over Town

Free

Kfest utilizes unoccupied spaces within the town of Killorglin by re-appropriating these vacant retail outlets, domestic homes or deserted buildings as bespoke pop-up galleries. The transformation of 20 vacant buildings housing over 60 visual artists across all disciplines of fine art and design is in itself a staggering work of socially engaged art. Local, national and International artists act as temporary resuscitators, breathing new life into the numerous unique and quirky locations Killorglin has to offer.

External Projections - Nightly Nightfall, Oisin Cinema - The Square

Free

THREE SMART GIRLS (1936)

Oisin Cinema which opened in 1936 was for so many the centre of town for over 60 years. When it closed its door for the last time in 1999, Killorglin truly lost an iconic landmark. Nightly Projections of the first film ever shown in the Oisin will be beamed on the external facade of the building when night falls. Keep an eye out and enjoy the wonderful Three Smart Girls starring Deanna Durbin and Ray Milland.

Zendala Project - Thurs, Sat & Sun

3.00 - 5.00pm, St. Joseph's Home

3.00-5.00pm, Library Place

12.00 - 2.00pm, Library Place

Free

A Zendala is a process of doodling in a meditative state with “tangles” & repeated patterns (usually black & white) to design a space. The idea behind the drawings are to draw lines and designs that repeat, to fill in spaces with many types of lines and designs, to make it a meditative exercise, let the drawing go where it wants to go, don't worry about erasing, perfection, or what the end product will look like. Relax, enjoy and have fun with the family!

The Murals project is a spectacular outdoor arts project. Using the town as its canvas, the Kfest Art community will turn the Killorglin itself into a spectacular masterpiece. The murals will take pride of place and will be easily visible to pedestrians and the passing traffic. The project is designed to improve the streetscape and to highlight the unique features of Killorglin for public enjoyment. We hope that Revitalization, beautification and civic pride will all be direct results of the mural project. This is the first year of the Mural project, we hope to continue this as an annual Kfest event and each year add another beautiful mural to our beautiful town. So during the June Bank holiday weekend take a walk along the streets of Killorglin and see the first of our town’s walls come to life. Perhaps you'll see some 'murals in the making'.
